Farnham astronomical society : ウィキペディア英語版 | Farnham astronomical society
The Farnham Astronomical Society was founded in 1971 by a group of keen local amateur astronomers with the aim of promoting and furthering interest in the night sky and all things astronomy amongst the people of North Hampshire and West Surrey. The Farnham Astronomical Society meets at the Aldershot Cricket Club, Aldershot, on the second Tuesday of every month. The Society is an unofficial custodian of the Aldershot Observatory. Although this observatory is owned by the British Army, members of the Farnham Astronomical Society have been active in bringing this telescope back into use after some years of neglect (with the help of the Army and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers workshops). The Observatory houses a magnificent refractor built by Howard Grubb (Grubb Telescope Company). As well as researching its history the society has an active interest in preserving it for future use. The Farnham Astronomical Society is affiliated to the Federation of Astronomical Societies〔(Federation of Astronomical Societies )〕 and the Southern Area Group of Astronomical Societies.〔(Southern Area Group of Astronomical Societies )〕 ==References==
